Mobs in two villages dug up the body of deceased Protestant Kanygul Satybaldiyeva, insisting non-Muslims cannot be buried in village cemeteries. Police, secret police and officials observed the exhumations but did not stop them. Officials took Satybaldiyeva’s body and claim to have buried it elsewhere.

Jim Henderson of Port Dover, an elder in the faith, said the Port Dover congregation had about 80 members several years ago. The numbers dwindled in recent years as younger families moved to other communities.

No Transfusion, botched Caesarean or Infection killed a Jehovah’s Witness, which ?

The Quebec coroner’s office is investigating the death of a 27-year-old woman who died following a difficult childbirth last week.

Éloïse Dupuis, a Jehovah’s Witness, died in a hospital in Lévis on Oct. 12, six days after giving birth to her son. The infant, named Liam, survived the ordeal.

SEOUL – A South Korean appeals court on Tuesday overturned the convictions of two conscientious objectors in an unprecedented ruling hailed as a key victory by opponents of mandatory military service.

South Korea requires most able-bodied men, aged between 18 and 35, to complete two years of military service

More than 60 years after the end of the Korean War, nearly every able-bodied South Korean man between the ages of 18 and 35 must still complete around two years of military service.

Russian court bans Jehovah’s Witnesses branch in Jewish Autonomous Region

A court in the Jewish Autonomous Region has ruled to ban a branch of “The Jehovah’s Witnesses” in Birobidzhan because of distributing extremist literature by the organization, according to the court’s website.

A lawsuit seeking prohibition of the local religious organization “The Jehovah’s Witnesses” has been filed by the Main Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Khabarovsk Krai and Jewish Autonomous Region.

Russian Supreme Court to announce ruling on appeal filed by Jehovah Witness’ branch

Russia’s Supreme Court will announce its ruling on the appeal filed over the liquidation of local Jehovah’s Witness organization in Oryol on October 18, RAPSI learned in the court on Friday.

On June 14, the Oryol Regional Court liquidated the organization on request of the Ministry of Justice’s regional Directorate. The organization was previously found extremist.

Muskogee, Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention set for this weekend

Muskogee’s religious communities will have a chance to witness in the way only Jehovah’s Witnesses can during a two-day convention at the civic center.

This Saturday, approximately 1,900 Jehovah’s Witnesses will convene for their Circuit Assembly, a program of Bible instruction, at the Muskogee Civic Center, Jehovah’s Witness News Service Overseer Jeffrey King said in a prepared statement.

AZERBAIJAN: 34 fines for “illegal” religious meeting

34 attendees at an “illegal” home meeting for worship on the most sacred annual observance for Jehovah’s Witnesses were fined nearly a year’s official minimum wage. The leader of a Sunni mosque in Baku forcibly closed in July has failed to overturn his fine.

In mid-September the final seven of 34 Jehovah’s Witnesses lost their appeals against fines of more than three months’ average wages each. The 34 were punished for participating in a 23 March meeting for worship in a home in the north-western town of Gakh

UZBEKISTAN: Contradictory “expert analyses”, four people fined

Jehovah’s Witnesses have told Forum 18 that between January and July 2016 at least 51 Jehovah’s Witnesses across all of Uzbekistan were fined for “offences” related to the possession of religious literature. Fines imposed varied between three and 60 times the minimum monthly wage. They commented that “the use of or even the mere possession of the Bible” outside the building of their only state-registered religious community, in Chirchik, “is considered to be an administrative violation“.

FYI – Netherlands to grow human embryos for research

The Dutch government will allow labs to grow human embryos to be used for research in a limited number of fields, it announced on Friday. Currently scientists have to rely on a limited supply of leftover embryos from in vitro fertilization patients.

“The ban on the cultivation of embryos [has] hampered research which could help with the treatment of diseases on the short to medium-long term,” the government said in a statement, justifying the ethically controversial move.
