Russia: Jehovah’s Witnesses banned from Russia, ruled to be extremist group

Russia’s highest court banned the Jehovah’s Witnesses organisation from operating on the territory of the country at the Supreme Court in Moscow, Thursday.

According to the judge Yuri Ivanenko, the court accepted the request from the Ministry of Justice that the religious organisation should be considered to be an extremist group.

Ivanenko announced that all chapters of the Jehovah’s Witnesses are to be closed in the country’s regions as well as the confiscation of their property to the state.
